2026 is my 20 year anniversary of helping people solve complex health problems which keep them awake at night, and distressed or inconvenienced during the day.
20 years is quite a stretch of time.
When I inadvertently started offering sessions all those years ago, I had no idea that two decades later I'd still be doing it. I didn't even know back then that I'd last more than a year.
In fact, when I started, it wasn't what I planned to be doing at all.
When I started seeing clients, you might imagine it was because I proactively decided I wanted to be a therapist. Nope - that's not how it was...
When I started seeing clients, I'd just come through the other side of a 20 year journey of healing myself from chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) and clinical depression, plus a swag of other diagnosed health conditions, which had taken me on a journey of being unable to work for 10 years, and trying and testing over 250 different therapies on my quest to find answers.
I had sold my house to pay to live, including all the therapies and travel, which somewhere along the way turned into training to professional level in multiple cutting-edge root cause healthcare modalities.
It was a long journey of trial and error, repeatedly experiencing 'two steps forward and one back', as time and time again I would get my hopes up at seemingly making progress, only to experience slipping back yet again.
But eventually perseverance paid off, and I was able to say I understood many of the contributing factors which create illness, and what it takes to reverse physical or mental symptoms of disease without having to use medication, supplements or external props.
At that point, 20 years ago, my plan was to return to my previous 'dream' career of film and television production.
In my 20's I had aspired for years of working in the industry, finally following the dream by training full-time for one year at film school in Auckland, but depression and CFS had cut the dream short. So now that I was well again, I wanted to return to follow my heart's desire.
But life had other plans.
Despite spending every working day for a year applying for roles, and scoring the occasional contract, it seemed my face was not fitting the bill.
In the film industry, it's very much a case of 'who you know' as much as what you know. I knew I had the skills, but I just didn't seem to be able to break into the elusive 'inner circle' of the Auckland film scene.
Finally, after a year of frustration and despondency, and ever-emptying coffers, I decided to call it quits. It was devastating. I can honestly say it took a year to come through the grief and sadness of letting my dream career go. It had been everything I wanted for so many years, but I just wasn't cutting the mustard, and I needed to pay the rent. I sold my beautiful beloved car to cover the next few months living expenses, and set about deciding what to do next.
Out of the blue, a lady called asking for help with her chronic fatigue. (In my own process of self-healing, I had inadvertently trained in several therapies designed to get to the core of chronic fatigue and pain conditions, and she had found my name listed on one of the websites - I hadn't even known I was listed on it).
I politely turned her down, explaining I was not a therapist, (even though I had completed the practitioner training, purely for my own healing). But she kept calling... several times over a two or three months. And eventually, one day, something inside of me said 'why not try it, what have you got to lose?'. And I made her first appointment. And the rest is history.
So here we are now, 20 years later, and I quite like how it's exactly two decades since my first client, and it seems how I work is about to be caterpulted into a new dimension.
And here is where I am about to start talking about Precision Healthcare.
What is Precision Healthcare?
Well, we could say it's a new buzz word in the medical industry, and a new trajectory for healthcare.
Precision Healthcare is where you focus on the individual and what they need, rather than offering a 'one-size-fits-all' solution.
This involves understanding each person's individual and unique circumstances, including their lifestyle habits, social environment, living environment, personal history, unique body type and more.
The funny thing is, I was introduced to this approach of healthcare over 25 years ago, when one my first teachers taught us "You don't heal illness - you heal a person.... you don't heal a health condition... you heal a whole person's life".
Those words were profound for me, and have stuck with me all these years.
You don't heal the illness... you heal the person with the illness.
This is one of the biggest secrets and most important (and missed) factors in healing.
We are all unique, and there is no one-size fits all answer. We all need to find out what works for us. Not our friends... or family... or the person next door.... for US.
This is precisely why I developed my own signature 'root cause analysis' protocol - a deep dive exploration into the entire history and chronology of a person's life, from birth to now, to discover the multiple contributory factors for their specific symptoms.
On my own journey of healing, I discovered this was a major missing piece in why I wasn't getting well. It was because I needed to understand me and what I needed, in order to get well. It was why I kept taking two steps forward and one step back, over and over again, like being trapped in my own personal Groundhog Day.
Whilst there are many common themes in the creation of illness, every single person will have their own blend of reasons. These are what need to be uncovered to be able to apply the right solutions for each person.
Enter a new dimension of Precision Healthcare: PRECISION HEALTHCARE AI.
Actually, technically this particular healthcare Ai system I'm referring to is not new either.
It's been around for more than 25 years.
Over that time, millions of human years of research and data have been fed into its purpose-built medical Ai system, to enable it to define the unique 'HealthType™' of each person, so that tailor-made solutions can be applied for each person's distinct genotype, phenotype and morphology (more on this in follow-on posts).
This cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence is built upon a foundation of 16 diverse scientific fields, including Embryology, Neuropsychology, Molecular Biology, Qigong, Ayurveda and more. It's grounded in 100% evidence-based medical research and is being utilized in over 120 countries worldwide.
This is personalized healthcare on steroids.
I'll be the first to admit I'm not a fan of Ai. I currently still do not use any of the LLM (large language models like Chat GBT etc) to research or write any of my content. I prefer to use what few brain cells I still have left and endeavour to keep alive.
However...
As I am discovering...
Maybe there IS a place for precision healthcare Ai.
And it's time to jump on board, explore and make use of it... to help supercharge the results I can bring myself and clients.
In following upcoming posts I'll be sharing more about this very specific Precision Healthcare Ai, how it works, and how it can help anyone supercharge results when it comes to improving their health and wellbeing.
Watch out for the next instalment, and spoiler alert;
An upcoming 5 day opportunity for 10 people to personally test-drive this technology (starting 26 June).
Stay tuned.
