Scientists discover microplastics equivalent to a plastic spoon in brains
You've probably heard about "microplastics" contaminating the environment as well as the inside of our bodies.
But here's something many are still not aware of:
The May 2025 issue of Brain Medicine shows a striking cover: a human brain dotted with colorful microplastic particles next to a plastic spoon.
The finding?
Human brains may contain about “a spoonful” of microplastic material. (1)
Of course, this is just ONE toxin we are exposed to on a daily basis. There’s also lead, mercury, cadmium, PCBs, PFAS, and a laundry list of other contaminants that are known to accumulate in the human body faster than our ability to get rid of them.
What can we do about it? Is it possible to lower this “Body Burden”, even in this modern, polluted environment?
This is the question that Nick Pineault had in mind when he went to an environmental medicine clinic to investigate whether their claims about helping people with environmental illness were actually true.
What he discovered became "Body Burden: The Toxins We Carry" - a documentary investigating a branch of medicine that's been quietly helping people recover from environmental illness for decades.
This isn't another doom-and-gloom film about how toxic everything is. It's an investigation into what environmental medicine doctors say they can do, backed by real patient outcomes documented over decades of practice.
What Nick didn't expect was discovering, while filming, that his own body was significantly overburdened. His lead came back at 34 times the reference range, his mercury 29 times the reference range, confirmed by three separate doctors.
He then followed the protocols. Four days at the clinic, the rest of the year at home. By the end, his motivation, mental clarity, daily mood, and overall health had all measurably changed.
